Yachters and Pirates a like, we got you.
One of the top questions we get while booking our charters is what do we suggested for boating snacks. There’s a lot to consider: length of journey, age of your crew, boat friendliness but most importantly… tastiness! Using our massive boating experience, we’ve scoured the internet and found the top ten best and easiest sailing snacks out there.
1.) Watermelon Skewers with Feta and Mint Pesto

Kicking us off we’ve got this simple yet elevated flavor combo perfectly crafted by Happy Kitchen. Refreshing and sumptuous, these skewers combine juicy watermelon with creamy feta and a drizzle of mint pesto. They are perfect for a hydrating and tasty snack on a hot day and it's easy to see why this made our top ten boating snacks list. You look fancy with very little leg work.
2.) Cheese and Charcuterie Board

A classic for a reason, a cheese and charcuterie board offers a variety of flavors, textures plus serve visual pop with very little fuss or muss. For boating, we suggest keeping it simple. Include a selection of hard cheeses, cured meats, olives, and nuts. Steer clear of honey, jams, berries, softer cheese, chocolates. Staining, sweating, melting... all things that can ruin a beautiful charcuterie spread while out in the summer sun on a very white boat. There are some simple rules to the charcuterie game and we found a great breakdown from Entertaining Diva.
3.) Veggie Sticks, Pita Chips and Hummus

Crunchy veggie sticks paired with creamy hummus provide a healthy and delicious option that's hearty enough to stand up warm summer days. Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, and celery are perfect for dipping and munching. If you’re feeling like skipping the store bought hummus and making a batch of your own, we’ve road tested this one from Cookie + Kate ourselves and it’s fantastic. Pita chips are also a great way to go. Listen, we love chips but PITA chips are a whole new ball field and they can stand up to that thick hummus that won’t let you down when the boat starts a rocking.
4.) Shrimp Cocktail

We had to include this one. Nothing says luxury yachting like a shrimp cocktail. Pre-cooked, chilled shrimp served with tangy cocktail sauce is an elegant and protein-packed snack that's just fits with elevated water fun. And EASY! Who knew fancy could be so painless to make. Now if you want to get even more VIP, we got you covered. Food Network got in the kitchen and upped the game, so if you really want to bring it come your boating day take this recipe for a spin.
5.) Trail Mix

Again, no cooking here! A versatile and portable snack, trail mix combines nuts, dried fruit, and a touch of chocolate for a sweet and salty treat. Now we don't have a recipe for you but we got a brand to recommend, H-E-B Texas Heat Trail Mix hits it out of the park. Their whole line of trail mixes are amazing but this is our favorite. And conveniently, there's an H-E-B in route to our dock.
6.) Ham and Cheese Roll-Ups

Simple and satisfying, ham and cheese roll-ups are easy to prepare and even easier to eat. Sandwiches are a classic boat snack but so often everything inside the sandwich stile right out the bottom and into your lap. Roll ups are a brilliant solve for mess. Use your favorite deli ham and cheese, and roll them up for a protein-packed snack that's perfect for on-the-go. If you want to take is just one step further we sourced this amazing recipe from Well Plated for Hame and Cheese Pinwheels that uses puff pastry in place or tortilla and we think its pretty brilliant.
7.) Walking Tacos

Get a load of this! Taste of Home has this killer recipe that turns any bag of chips into a Walking Taco… or Frito Pie if you’re a Texas native. You bring all the fixings along with you an assemble on board and the layer of genius this for a day out on the ways are to many to properly delve Into. Okay… maybe just the first one…. NO. PLATE. Boom! Mind blown. Anytime you can minimize your waste, speed up clean up pr carry less stuff on board is a win for a water day. Can’t recommend this snack enough.
8.) No Bake Energy Bites

We have long been a fan of Energy Bites but bringing them along on your Yacht Charter is a game changer for us. Easy, tasty, healthy and EASY to pop a bite or two between dips in the water. Plus flavor options galore! Sweet Peas and Saffron has got seven different flavor combos already worker out for you and if we may, we highly recommend the Monster and sub out Sunflower Seed Butter for Peanut Butter… you’ll never look at oats the same way again.
9.) Candied Ginger

This one’s a snack and an old sailor’s trick. Not every guest gets a little queasy when the waves hit but it always seems to happen when you least expect it. Don’t know what the science behind ginger fixing an upset tummy is but we know it works. Always worth bringing a long some candied ginger just in case and bonus points, it’s really tasty. If you’re feeling ambitious we found a great recipe from David Leibovitz but we promise store bought has the same magic.
10.) Pepperoni Pizza Muffins

Got kids and teens in tow and all they ever want to eat is pizza. We feel you and we found a solution. The test kitchen over at King’s Hawaiian dreamed up the addicting Pepperoni Pizza Muffins that we absolutely dream about. Portable, easy to prep and you can reheat these suckers below deck in our microwave but let’s face it, we love pizza cold too.
We hope you found some inspiration for our culling of the internet. Ultimately the best snacks on any boat are ones that everyone will want to eat and make your life easier. We'll have a whole other blog dedicated to the business near us that you can also order your yachting fare from so keep an eye out for that.
